MTA Tashkent Mining (Uzbekistan)
MTA Tashkent Mining (Uzbekistan)
MTA Tashkent Mining was established on July 19, 2018, in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the objective of conducting mineral exploration and research activities. The company’s portfolio includes a total of three exploration licenses located in the Navoi region (Saritau and Aytim) and the Samarkand region (Hurob).
The license areas are situated within the Central Tien-Shan orogenic belt, which forms part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). The project areas are in proximity to world-class deposits such as Muruntau—one of the largest open-pit gold mines globally—and significant gold deposits including Daugiztau and Kokpatas. Additionally, the region hosts skarn-type tungsten (wolfram) deposits such as Ingilchek, Lyangar, and Koitas.
Saritau License Area
Location and Infrastructure:
Located 68 km east of Uchkuduk district in the Navoi region, 65 km northeast of Zarafshan, and 40 km northeast of the A379 highway.
Nearby Mining Areas:
Turbay (Au) (3 km away)
Kokpatas (Au) (35 km away)
Exploration activities commenced in 2018.
Exploration works include:
- Geological mapping,
- Geochemical sampling (rock) and anomaly mapping,
- Drilling operations (Core and RC drilling),
- Geophysical surveys.
The Tian-Shan Belt, as part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), is a major metallogenic province hosting diverse mineralization styles ranging from orogenic-type Au to intrusion-related Au–Cu–Mo porphyry and W deposits. The Saritau W–Mo, Ag–Au deposit in the southern Tian-Shan Belt is a skarn-type mineralization genetically associated with an Early Permian granitoid intrusion.
Geological Mapping
Exploration activities began with geological mapping studies. Within this scope, lithological units, structural elements, alteration zones, and surface mineralization zones were identified. The obtained data provided a foundation for interpreting the regional geological structure and for preliminary assessment of potential mineralization areas.
Geochemical Sampling
Comprehensive rock, soil, and trench sampling has been conducted across the licence area. Based on the obtained data, anomalous zones have been identified.
Geophysical Activities
In 2019, airborne magnetic gradient and radiometric measurements were conducted over a total area of 557 km² within and around the license area.
Drilling Activities
Within the scope of exploration and reserve development works, various types of drilling studies (reverse circulation and diamond drilling) were carried out targeting W-Mo and Ag-Au mineralization. The obtained data were evaluated through detailed geochemical analyses to define the geological structure and mineralization potential of the area.
Pre-Feasibility Studies
Within the Saritau mineralization zone, geological, geochemical, geophysical, and drilling data obtained from exploration activities were evaluated using multidisciplinary approaches in accordance with international standards. In this context, the geological model of the mineralization was developed, and the geometric and spatial relationships of the ore zones, as well as their mineralogical characteristics, were examined in detail.

Hurob License Area :
Location and Infrastructure
- Located 97 km north of Samarkand Province and 45 km east of Zarkent.
Nearby Mining Areas
- Zarmitan (Au) (16 km away)
- Marjonbuloq (Au) (16 km away)

Exploration activities commenced in 2018.
Exploration works include:
- Geological mapping,
- Geochemical sampling (rock, stream sediment) and anomaly mapping,
- Trench opening and sampling,
- Drilling studies are ongoing.
Geological Mapping
Prior to the commencement of exploration activities, a geological mapping study was conducted in the project area. Within this scope, lithological units, structural elements, alteration zones, and surface mineralization indicators were identified. The obtained data significantly contributed to the understanding of the general geological structure in the field.
Geochemical Sampling
Stream sediment, rock, and trench samples collected across the site, including those from previously excavated trenches, were re-sampled and subjected to geochemical analysis.
Trench Activities
Trench studies were conducted in the target areas defined by geological and geochemical data. These works included both newly excavated and existing trenches where detailed geological observations were carried out.
Drilling Activities
In 2025, core drilling operations commenced in areas defined through multidisciplinary exploration studies (geological mapping, geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, etc.) to determine the depth extent and continuity of mineralization.
Aytim License Area:
Location and Infrastructure
- Located 30 km north of Uchkuduk District, Navoi region,
- 25 km north of highway 4P180,
- Approximately 35 km from Kokpatas and 65 km from Turbai gold deposits.
Exploration activities commenced in 2020.
Within the scope of exploration activities:
- Geological mapping studies,
- Geochemical sampling (rock, stream sediment, soil) and anomaly mapping,
- Trench (channel) excavation and sampling,
- Diamond core drilling activities are ongoing.
Rock and trench samples collected across the site, including previously excavated trenches, were re-sampled and subjected to geochemical analysis.
Trench Activities
Trench studies were conducted in target areas defined by geological and geochemical data. Within the scope of these works, detailed geological observations were carried out both in newly opened and existing trenches.
Drilling Activities
Multidisciplinary exploration activities — including geological mapping, geochemical sampling — were carried out to define the vertical extent and continuity of mineralization. Core drilling operations commenced in 2023.
Sample Preparation Process
In the preparation laboratory, pulp samples are prepared using modern equipment such as a jaw crusher, pneumatic disc mill, and drying oven, in compliance with international standards. Rock, core, and fine-grained samples are subjected to drying, crushing, splitting, and grinding processes prior to chemical analysis to achieve homogeneity before proceeding to the analytical stage.
Analytical Instruments
In the analysis stages, two Atomic Absorption Spectrometers (AAS) and one Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES) are utilized to ensure high-precision and reliable elemental analyses.
Gold and Multi-Element Analysis
In the laboratory, both gold and screening tests are conducted. Gold analyses are performed using the Aqua Regia – Keton (DIBK) digestion method and measured with an AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrometer). For multi-element analyses, a four-acid digestion process is applied, and the analysis is completed using an ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometer). Approximately 32 different elements are examined in the analyses.
Technical Infrastructure and Capacity
With its advanced technical infrastructure and analytical capacity, the laboratory is among the few facilities in Uzbekistan actively performing gold and multi-element analyses with high reliability. The necessary applications for the laboratory’s accreditation process have been submitted, and the process is currently ongoing.
